Every person in the world experiences stress. It affects men and women, rich or poor, young and old. Different people try to reduce or even try to eliminate stress from their life. Myths about hypnosis.

There are many myths about hypnosis that have been created from movies, novels, and TV shows. The four most common myths are that while in hypnosis you are out of control. The second fallacy is that while hypnotized, you will be forced to tell the truth. Number three on the list is the belief that you might become stuck in hypnosis. The final element is that there are people who cannot be hypnotized.

Facts about hypnosis.

You will never lose control while hypnotized; you actually take control of your life by using more of your mentally abilities. Hypnosis isn’t a truth serum; in fact, you could easily lie while hypnotized. It seems a little silly to think about anyone getting stuck in hypnosis, it’s been around since the 1700’s and no one has ever been “stuck” in hypnosis. And finally, it’s a fact that anyone over the age of five can be hypnotized provided they are willing.

How Hypnosis Controls Stress

Most people can tell you instantly 3 to 5 things which are currently causing them stress. This shows three important facts. Firstly, almost everyone is under some degree of stress. The second important issue is knowing what is causing the stress. The third, and perhaps the most important element, is that they want to remove and/or reduce their stress level.

It is a fact that you can never be made to do anything under hypnosis that you do not want to do. This is why it’s so important that you want to gain control over the stress in your life.

Hypnosis has been called a state of hyper suggestibility. This means that while in a hypnotic state, your mind is receptive to positive suggestions which allows you to change the way you respond to various situations in your life.

It’s impossible to ever remove all stress from your life, but it is possible to change the way we respond to situations. To understand how we can change our perception of a given thought, or action, think about the following story of deep snow.

Deep Snow

It seems to often that we allow outside stimulants to rule our lives. We’ve all heard of people saying that “stress pushed me back into smoking” or that “the kids made me eat”. It’s a lot easier to use another person or event as the excuse for failure, rather than accepting the fact that we have the ability to change the way we respond to any given situation or event.

I can recall, years back when there was a terrible snowstorm. One of the neighbours was out trying to get his car out of the driveway and was cursing up a storm. Another neighbour walked out to her porch and said “I’m not going to make it to work today, but there’s a good book I’ve been wanting to read.” And then there was the young boy on the street that saw all the snow and yelled “Thank you God!” as he jumped into the snow with joy. Each one of these three people encountered the same stimulant, since the snow wasn’t any deeper on one side of the street than the other.

One person viewed it as a tragedy, another thought “Oh well”, and the last one saw it as a blessing. You, too, can change the way you view any situation or circumstance to ensure your total success. You have the ability to change the way you perceive events, people and circumstances. You can choose to feel out of control and stressed, or you can decide to take back control of your life. Stress cannot control you.

Imagine how amazing it would be to have control over how you respond to stressful situations.
